This episode is the exciting conclusion of our 3-part series on Sir Humphry Davy's book "Last Days of a Philosopher." In this installment we get to know "The Unknown," the unnamed and mysterious stranger we introduced in the last episode. We question time, recoil at the knowledge that everything is complicit in death, decay, decomposition and entropy. The good news, we learn, is the promise that by understanding and obeying change we can learn to command it. When we do, we will be as gods, wielding the power of nature and transforming the cosmos and ourselves as we desire. Gene editing, terraforming...this is only the beginning.
