S2E79 - What the Hell is an Actual Entity

In this episode Chris highlights his beef (so far, anyway) with Alfred North Whitehead's model of reality--Philosophy of Organism. He poses the questions that beg for an answer and highlights where Whitehead fails to be clear. Just what the hell is an "Actual Entity"...or an "Eternal Object" for that matter? Whitehead tells us that experience arises from "primary data" and that "a thing" mediates between Potentiality and Actuality. He then waits pages and pages to clarify, with mixed success. I may be taking issue more with his writing style than with the substance of his metaphysics. Listen and let me know if I'm being naive, if I'm missing something, or if my criticisms are valid.

S2E78 - A Successful Hunt, Kwanza and Election Integrity

In this episode Chris talks about the importance of storytelling and shares the tale of his first successful hunt. Kyle develops several incredible marketing slogans directly off the top of his head. The conversation then turns to a comparison of Kwanza with Wicca. We wrap up with Chris' impressions of Alfred North Whitehead and the integrity of our elections.

We talk "Mind" with a capital "M" and Emanuel Swedenborg's strange and speculative thoughts on the nature of our Sun. The conversation then changes to discussion of our relative accents of the English language. We share our comedic ignorance of each other's homeland, geography and yes, accents.

In this episode Chris dives deeper into Alfred North Whitehead's "Process and Reality." We walk through Whitehead's metaphysics conceptually and learn all the Whiteheadian vocabulary words: "Creative Advance," "Entities," "Eternal Objects," the "Primordial and Consequent natures of God," "concrescence" and the like. We find out what the "Process" is in "Process Philosophy" and we ask the hounding question: "What the hell is an Actual Entity"?

S2E75 - Halloween Episode

In this episode Kyle comes dressed as Slipknot, to Chris' surprise. But, what the hell, it's Halloween. We talk about the embarrassing lack of political, historical and geographic knowledge among your everyday American. Does "Great Britain" mean the same as "United Kingdom"? We talk stereotypes and racisms among Europeans and the interesting double standard in how society views poor minorities versus poor people among the majority. And much, much more.

S2E74 - Art, Symbols, Interpretation

In this episode Chris attempts a psychological interpretation of the symbols in the great painting by Salvador Dali entitled: Geopoliticus Child Watching the Birth of the New Man. This was an exercise in the same type of free-association the depth psychologists like Freud and Jung engaged in. In it Chris tries to understanding what meaning is and where it comes from. He begins and ends with the same overarching question: Can there be valid meaning interpreted in symbols/art beyond what the artist intended? If so, what does this say about meaning in general?

S2E72 - Whitehead’s Reality

In this episode we begin our exploration of Alfred North Whitehead's magnum opus "Process and Reality." This one serves as an introduction to the novel conceptualization of God and conscious experience that Whitehead introduced to the philosophic world, with emphasis on his speculative technique in generating a new model of reality. Whitehead defends imagination as a valid faculty to exploring the world and achieving knowledge. He also envisions reality as a "Process" generated by interaction between and within the One substance that makes up the cosmos.

In this episode we return to Erich Neumann's Origin and History of Consciousness to try and make sense of the Oedipus complex as described by Freud. We take on the strange motifs of incest and patricide and explain how and why they aren't as taboo as you might think. We also explore the connections between our most ancient myths and our experience of being conscious. Here goes...

Talking of disgust and interest, we ponder where such feelings come from and whether or not they constitute some form of communication from God (or our deepest Self). We talk "divine revelation" and in what ways man may actually commune with the spiritual domain. Oh, and we ask Satan to lend us a dollar.
