In this episode Chris reads a short essay he prepared years ago when first entertaining the idea of starting a podcast. He provides solid reasons for doubting subjective reality, posits an objective reality called--The Ultimate--and, once he's convinced you that perception is illusion...he introduces the "Mystic Experience." In this episode Chris compliments the description of his own mystic experience from Episode 83 with a whole bunch more from history. We delve into William James' The Varieties of Religious Experience, point out that William James had a mystic experience of his own--courtesy of medically administered nitrous oxide (did you know that)--and conclude that the mystic experience may be "the truest of insight into the meaning of this life."
